Christopher D. Long
President, Portfolio Manager and Founder

Chris founded Palmer Square Capital Management, an approximately $4 billion AUM asset manager focused on corporate and structured credit, in June 2009. Currently, he serves as President and Portfolio Manager and is responsible for managing Palmer Square’s investment effort and overall business. Since inception, Chris has been successful in not only building a highly-experienced investment team, but also an integrated credit investment platform that manages mutual fund offerings, private funds and separately managed accounts. The firm has a client list that spans not only institutions and family offices, but also RIAs, bank/trust, and broker-dealers.

Chris’s previous work experience includes key investment roles at Prairie Capital and Sandell Asset Management as well as working at Morgan Stanley in the Credit Derivatives and Distressed Securities Group focused on the firm’s proprietary investments. Before Morgan Stanley, he worked at TH Lee Putnam Ventures, a private equity fund sponsored by Thomas H Lee Partners and Putnam Investments. In that role, he also served on the Board of Directors of Avero, Inc. and was a Board Observer for Parago, Inc. He started his career at JPMorgan & Co. in Leveraged Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions (FIG Group) advising corporations and private equity firms on investment banking and capital markets. ᅠ

He received an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School and an AB degree in Economics cum laude from Princeton University.

Chris’s community involvement includes serving as an Investment Committee member of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Board Member of the Children’s Mercy Hospital Foundation, Trustee for the St. Paul’s Episcopal Day School, Co-Class Agent for Princeton University, Social Chair for the Princeton Club of Greater Kansas City, and Alumni Mentor for the Princeton University Bendheim Center for Finance Mentorship Program. Chris is also a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and the Economic Club of Kansas City.

Formerly, Chris was also appointed by Kansas Governor Sam Brownback and unanimously approved by the Senate to two terms as a Trustee for the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS). Chris also formerly served as the Treasurer for the City of Mission Hills, KS (appointed by Mayor David Fromm of Mission Hills, KS). Finally, Chris was formerly a Member of the Children’s Mercy Hospitals Leadership Circle of Care Committee, Kansas University’s Finance Department Advisory Board, Treasurer for the Harvard-Radcliffe Club of Kansas City, Investment Committee Member for the Foundation of the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Member of the Major Gifts Committee – Harvard Business School.

Finally, Chris was selected as a Finalist for the 2016 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Central Midwest Region and to participate in the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City’s KC Tomorrow (2007-2008 Class). He was awarded Ingram Magazine’s 40 Under 40 award, the Kansas City Business Journal’s Class of 2015 NextGen Leaders award, and KC Business Magazine’s Rising Star Award.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their business and communities. In 2016, there were 21 finalists. The award is decided by a panel of independent judges.

Ingram's Magazine "40 under Forty" honorees are nominated based upon Ethics and Integrity; Leadership Skills; Achievement in Business; Entrepreneurship; Executive-level Managerial Status; Professional Affiliations and Associations; Appointments to Boards and Commissions; and Community Service.

The NextGen Leaders program is designed to recognize up-and-coming leaders in the Kansas City business and civic communities. A panel of 6 judges reviewed applications and qualifications to identify 25 participants for the 2015 class.

Angie K. Long, CFA
Chief Investment Officer/Portfolio Manager

Angie Knighton Long, Chief Investment Officer, has key responsibilities for all investment-related activities at Palmer Square.

Prior to joining Palmer Square, Angie worked for JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York for 13 years. Angie held many senior roles including Deputy Head of North American Credit Trading, Head of High Yield Trading, and Head of Credit Derivatives Trading. Angie has been a trader of many products including high yield bonds, high yield credit derivatives, distressed debt, capital structure arbitrage, and structured credit. In addition, she worked with the Global Head of Credit Trading to help oversee risk management for the High Yield and High Grade credit trading books.

Named a Managing Director at age 29, Angie is considered a pioneer in the Credit Derivatives industry and is credited with creating the HYDI (High Yield Debt Index), the first liquid credit trading index and predecessor to all of today’s indices (the Markit CDX).

Angie received an AB degree in Economics from Princeton University and is a CFA ® charterholder. During her years at Princeton, Angie was a member of two National Championship Rugby Teams and was selected as an All-American in 1997.

Matthew L. Bloomfield
Managing Director/Portfolio Manager

Matt is the Loan Portfolio Manager and is responsible for coverage of the Consumer sector.

Prior to relocating to Kansas City, Matt worked for over seven years at Golub Capital in Chicago, most recently as an Associate Portfolio Manager within the Broadly Syndicated Loan Group where he focused on investing in leveraged loans via collateralized loan obligation vehicles and separate accounts. Prior to joining Golub Capital, Matt worked for three years for Giuliani Capital Advisors in Chicago as an Analyst and subsequently Associate in the Investment Banking Group where he focused on special situations and restructuring advisory mandates.

Matt earned an MBA in Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, as well as a BS and BGS in Business Administration and Economics, respectively, from the University of Kansas.

Vesta Marks, CFA, CAIA
Executive Director/Portfolio Manager

Vesta has key responsibilities for the firm’s investments in the mortgage-backed arena (MBS).

Prior to joining Palmer Square, Vesta was a Managing Director at Tradex Global Advisory Services, where he oversaw the firm’s mortgage credit involvement within its flagship hedge fund. Before helping to launch Tradex’s hedge fund, Vesta held a long-standing role as a portfolio manager for Semper Capital Management, a $1 billion investment manager specializing in mortgage strategies. At Semper, Vesta was responsible for investments in multiple strategies involving Non-Agency RMBS, CMBS and ABS. The strategies included registered mutual funds, a mortgage REIT, and a securitized debt hedge fund. In addition to managing portfolios, Vesta developed a comprehensive, loan-level CMBS model to re-underwrite the credits of legacy CMBS for opportunistic investing within the hedge fund and absolute return products.

In addition to spending 10 years of his career at Semper, he also served as an investment analyst at Earnest Partners, a $20 billion investment manager, where he was responsible for trading and overseeing the firm’s MBS positions and also developing proprietary prepayment models for asset backed securities issued by the Small Business Administration (SBA).

Vesta received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst ® and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst ® designations.

Jeffrey D. Fox
Managing Director/Assistant Portfolio Manager

Jeff has key responsibilities for the firm’s structured credit and CLO platform.

Prior to joining Palmer Square, Jeff worked for Sandler O’Neill and Partners where he was a Managing Director within Fixed Income where he was involved in the structuring and sales of many products including Collateralized Loan Obligations. Before Sandler O’Neill, Jeff worked for Societe Generale as a Director within Global Markets Advisory where he was instrumental in the US CDO/CLO and RMBS Credit Advisory effort. His work included the restructuring of various structured credit legacy positions for European institutions as well as the modeling behind the corporate rating and pricing for various structured products.

Prior to Societe Generale, Jeff was employed by JPMorgan Chase & Co/Bear Stearns, where he was an Associate Director in the FAST organization focusing on the structuring of Trust Preferred CDOs and CLOs. Also while at Bear Stearns, Jeff managed the global CDO analytics desk which included intensive credit modeling of various asset classes.

Jeff received a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Arizona State University and a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Geology from Northern Arizona University. Jeff holds the Series 7 and 63.

Thomas C. Dobesh, CFAᅠ
Executive Director/Senior Analyst

Tom has key responsibilities for the firm’s opportunistic credit platform.

Prior to joining Palmer Square, Tom worked for Sound Point Capital where he was a Credit Opportunities/Distressed Senior Analyst responsible for fundamental research and investment idea generation across the capital structure in industries including chemicals, technology/software, specialty finance, homebuilders, media and broadcasting. Prior to joining Sound Point, Tom was a Senior Analyst in the Distressed/Credit Opportunities group with Sandell Asset Management. At Sandell, Tom was responsible for fundamental research and investment idea generation across the capital structure in industries including homebuilders, mortgage related investments, airlines and technology/software.

Before Sandell, Tom worked at Barnard & Co, a growth-oriented private equity firm where he was responsible for identifying and researching potential investment opportunities. He started his career as an analyst at Salmon Smith Barney in the Mergers & Acquisitions group.

Tom received an MBA degree from Columbia Business School and a BS in Chemical Engineering cum laude from Northwestern University. Tom is also a CFA ® charterholder.

Jon R. Brager, CFA 
Executive Director/Senior Credit Analyst

Jon is a Senior Credit Analyst with key responsibilities for the firm's long/short corporate credit and CLO strategies. In his role, Jon conducts fundamental credit research, generates investment ideas and assists in the portfolio management of opportunistic credit products.

Jon has 12 years of professional experience, including 8 years in the global credit markets spanning analyst, trading and portfolio management roles. Prior to joining Palmer Square, Jon was a Senior Analyst at Hermes Investment Management, a London-based asset manager with over $50bn in AUM. At Hermes, Jon's focus was credit research coverage of the auto, basic material, and industrial sectors. Before that, Jon was a portfolio manager for a multi-strategy credit fund at BCM & Partners, LLP, having spent several years before that as a credit analyst at BCM and LNG Capital, LLP. Jon started his career as a systems engineer at Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control in Dallas.

Jon earned an MBA from London Business School, a Master’s degree in Economics from Southern Methodist University as well as Bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Management Science. He is also a CFA ® charterholder.

Taylor R. Moore, CFA
Vice President

Taylor is a key member of the firm's structured credit investing team.

Prior to joining Palmer Square, Taylor worked at JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York and Delaware. Taylor was an integral part of the firm’s North American foreign exchange business serving as Associate Product Controller. In particular, Taylor played a key role in all financial operations and management of JPMorgan’s Forward and Spot foreign exchange trading desks. He began his career at JPMorgan as part of the firm’s Corporate Development Program, a two year selective leadership development program. Prior to JPMorgan Chase & Co., Taylor worked at Frontier Investment Bank, a boutique investment bank based out of Kansas City.

Taylor received a BA in Economics from Cornell University. During his time at Cornell, Taylor was a member of four top ten NCAA Wrestling teams, and traveled to Beijing in 2008 to represent team the USA in the FILA Junior World Championships. He is also a CFA ® charterholder.

Laird M. Boulden, CFA
Senior Analyst

Laird is a Credit Analyst and member of Palmer Square's investment team.

Prior to joining Palmer Square, Laird was a Senior Associate on the Debt Capital Markets team at Fifth Third Securities in Chicago. At Fifth Third, Laird served in a variety of roles including providing credit research for Fifth Third's institutional loan portfolio as well as supporting leveraged finance originations within Debt Capital Markets. Prior to Fifth Third, Laird worked as an Analyst at Wells Fargo Bank, where he was a member of the Chicago commercial banking team.

Laird is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with a Bachelors of Science in Finance. He is also a CFA ®ᅠ charterholder.

Jordan T. Nicholas, CFA
Associate/Credit Analyst

Jordan provides research for Palmer Square’s investment team as well as assisting in investment-related business operations.

Prior to joining the Firm, Jordan worked at Vantage Investment Partners, a boutique investment management firm that specializes in fixed income. Jordan was involved in the daily operations of the company.

Jordan is a graduate of Missouri Western State University, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing. He is also a CFA ®ᅠ charterholder.
